Partick Thistle Women’s FC is delighted to announce that winger Rachel Donaldson has agreed a deal to stay with the club for the 2022/23 campaign.
An experienced player at SWPL 1 level, Donaldson joined the club in February of this year from Celtic, following a period training with the squad and an appearance as a trialist against Hamilton Accies.
She has appeared in all of our league games since signing and has become an integral part of Brian Graham’s attack, scoring her first Jags goal in a 2-2 draw with Spartans.
The former Stirling University and Celtic player also contributed during our run to the Biffa Scottish Women’s Cup semi-finals. It was her energetic pressing which won the ball back to set Cara McBrearty up for an easy finish to make it 3-0 on the way to a 4-2 quarter-final win over Hibernian at Petershill Park.
PTWFC manager Brian Graham said: “When Rachel signed she was a real marquee signing for us and a statement of intent of where we want to take this club.
“She is a player a lot of teams in this league would love to have and she has made a big impact in the attacking third since signing. For her to agree to another year here shows how much she believes in what we are trying to build and wants to be part of that next season”
Rachel Donaldson said: “I’m delighted to agree to come back next season. When I left Celtic I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do next and Brian took a lot of time and effort to persuade me to come to Thistle and it’s a decision I’m so glad I made.
“I’ve loved my time here so far and there has already been so many great moments and memories. Hopefully I can continue to help this club grow next season and create some more of those great moments.”
