Elliott delighted with three points

Christie Elliott was a happy man after the 2-0 home victory over Dunfermline. The defender admits the dressing room was a very happy place after the game.

Speaking to ptfc.co.uk he said: “We’re delighted. It was great to get back to winning ways and all the lads are completely buzzing in the changing room.

“We’ve been working hard and it just shows that we have been working on the training pitch and we got our rewards today with all three points.”

After such a long run without a win Elliott was relieved to get that monkey off the back and allow the team now to look forward to the games coming up

“It’s something to build on, it’s a massive weight off our shoulders and we can look forward now to the games coming up and hopefully putting some more points on the board and look to get ourselves climbing the table.

“We got the goal early, it gave us something to defend, gave us something to build on and I think that made a big difference. We pushed after it for a second, we didn’t want to sit back and take the 1-0 and we managed to get it which let us settle down even more and see the game out.”

Christie knows after such a bad run confidence was dented but it’s something the players have been trying to improve and a win will give it a further boost

“Confidence is massive in football, it makes such a difference. We’ve been building our confidence in training and it showed today, everyone put everything into the game and we got the three points we deserved. That now gives us more confidence ahead of another tough game next weekend.

“It’s another game with a team about us and we know we need to build on today’s result with another three points. We can’t get ahead of ourselves but we need to use today as a start and go from there.”

Elliott put on a superb performance in a right wing back role and he was delighted to be back to his best

“I’ve not been myself for parts of this season but I feel like I got back to how I can play today, so it’s something for me personally to build on and look to go out and improve more.

“The formation suited us today and caused them real problems, we were solid at the back and I think we created some really good moves going forward too. It was good to be part of that on both sides.”

The Thistle number 2 was glad to have sent the Thistle support away with a smile on their face.

“The fans were fantastic, they really backed us the whole match and it was great to send them away happy with something to celebrate.“
