Partick Thistle Women’s FC is excited to announce that two of the club’s Player of the Season nominees, Cheryl Rigden and Demi Falconer, have committed to Thistle for the 2021/22 season.
Cheryl and Demi were two of the three Jags to feature in all 18 of our games last season with the latter being the only player in the squad to start every fixture.
Rigden finished as the team’s second top goalscorer for the term with eight goals from 16 starts including a winner at home to Glasgow Girls and a double on the road against the same opposition. She also registered three assists.
Falconer, a stalwart in central defence, served as the team’s vice-captain for 2020/21. She set the tone for her season with a terrific opening day performance wherein she registered a goal and an assist as well as keeping a clean sheet against Queen’s Park.
She led the Jags’ backline to the third best defensive record in the division with just 22 goals conceded in 18 games, eight fewer goals than the fourth best defence.
PTWFC manager Brian Graham said:
“Both players were important parts of our team last season so I’m delighted to have them back again for the new one.
“Demi was a rock at the back for us and was a terrific leader and captain while Colette was out injured.
“Rigden scored a lot of goals for us before the break last season and I’m looking forward to her being a scoring threat for us again when the competitive games get underway again next month.”
