First player comes through Drumchapel Utd pathway

Partick Thistle Women’s FC is proud to announce the signing of Morgan Anderson from our partner club Drumchapel United, the first such move made through the pathway which was established last February.

Anderson, a 17-year-old midfielder, has spent time training with the PTWFC first team and now officially signs for the club, becoming the first Drumchapel player to progress to the Thistle squad.

The partnership with Drumchapel was designed to give girls in the local community a greater chance to advance their careers in women’s football and Morgan’s move is an important first step in achieving that goal.

PTWFC manager Brian Graham said: “We’re really happy to bring Morgan into our squad. We want to be a club to give young girls the chance to go as far as possible in the game. We hope that Morgan will be the first of many to come through the pathway from Drumchapel United to Partick Thistle and possibly beyond.

“We’ve had her training with us over the last year and she has been improving massively in that time both in her ability and her confidence. She is still learning, and we feel it’s the right time to bring her to Partick Thistle and I can’t wait to work with her on a permanent basis”

Scott Bland of Drumchapel United said: “We’re really proud to have Morgan move on as the first player to progress through the pathway between the two clubs. It’s a great moment not only for Morgan but for Drumchapel United too.

“Morgan was a fantastic player for us, giving energy, movement and great on the ball as well as fantastic teammate, she will be greatly missed by the players and coaches at Drumchapel United

“We cannot wait to see Morgan wearing a Partick Thistle game kit and see how she develops her game. We hope she serves as an inspiration for the other girls at the club to show what they can achieve and that the opportunities are there for them”
