Games don’t get any bigger than this insists Elliott

Christie Elliott is hoping the Thistle support can come out and help the side to victory in the first of four vital games at the business end of the Ladbrokes Championship season.

Thistle face Alloa at the Energy Check Stadium at Firhill and Elliott knows how important the game is. He is hoping the Jags support will bring the noise to back the side from the first whistle to the last.

Speaking to he said: “We are at home with the big pitch which is a lot different from at their place and should give us the advantage. We also have our fans behind us, they can make a massive difference for us and we know they will really get behind and support us.

“We have to start the game well and hopefully the fans can help us do that and get us on the front foot straight from kick off. We know the season has been disappointing for everyone and we must improve next term but right now we have four games to start fixing it and get out of the position we find ourselves in.”

The flying right back knows there are four big games coming up and it’s important to take them one game at a time.

“It’s a massive game. We know every one of the last four games is huge. We know how important the games are in terms of the Club and the position we are in. We know they are all important but we have to take each game as it comes and that starts on Saturday against Alloa. We know we have to go out and take all three points nothing else is acceptable.”

Elliott admits the squad know only too well what Alloa will throw at them and that it’s up to them now to go out and follow the game plan laid down by the manager and coaching staff.

“We’ve worked on Alloa all week and we know what we need to do. It’s up to us now to go out and put that into action, to put in a performance that will earn us the win. We kept a good clean sheet last week against Inverness and hopefully we can do that again and give ourselves something to build on.”

A win on Saturday would keep it in Thistle’s hands and Christie knows that is important.

“If we get the win on Saturday we can take that into the next game and look to string the results together that we need. We know what is required and we have to make that happen. It’s up to us now, only the players in this team can do what is needed, we can’t rely on anyone else to do it for us.

“We know it is in our hands. If we win the games we’ve got left, we will be safe and it’s as simple as that. That is all we can look at. We can’t look for favours from everyone else. We know if we do our job that is all that matters and that is important. We don’t want to get to the stage where we are looking elsewhere.”

The Jags number two missed minutes recently due to the recurrence of an ankle issue that has trouble dhim at times this term but is back fit and raring to go as everyone prepares for the all important run in.

“I’m feeling much better. I just needed a game or two out to recover properly and since I got that I’m feeling great again. It was good to get back into the side on Saturday and hopefully I can do my bit in the coming four games to help the team.”
