Gary Holt appointed Women’s Manager

Partick Thistle Women’s FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Holt as the club’s new manager.

Holt began his career in the Army — an experience that shaped his leadership style and discipline — before making the late transition into professional football.

He went on to enjoy a long and distinguished playing career, starting at Stoke City before joining his boyhood club, Kilmarnock, where he spent six successful years. After impressing at Rugby Park, he moved south to Norwich City, helping the Canaries secure promotion to the English Premier League. Following a season in the top flight, Holt joined Nottingham Forest.

During his playing days, the midfielder earned 10 caps for Scotland, scoring once in a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago.

After retiring, Holt began his coaching career as Assistant Academy Manager at Norwich City before taking on his first managerial role with Falkirk. His success there led to a return to Carrow Road as first-team coach under Neil Adams.

Two years later, he returned to Scotland to manage Livingston, guiding them to a ninth-place finish in their first season back in the Scottish Premiership and earning several Manager of the Month awards along the way.

Holt now arrives at Petershill Park ready to bring his wealth of experience, leadership, and top-level knowledge to the women’s game.

Partick Thistle Women’s CEO Caroline Mackie Said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Gary to the football club. His experience and coaching record speak for themselves. His enthusiasm to drive this club forward and develop players was clear to see from the very first conversation we had with him.

“We look forward to working and supporting him as much as we can as he leads the club forward”
