Glasgow Taxis remain on board until the end of season 2023/24

The colourful partnership between Partick Thistle FC and Glasgow Taxis continues to motor and the club is delighted to confirm it is now extended for a further year, to the end of season 2023/24.

The popular red and yellow Thistle taxi has become firmly established as part of the Firhill matchday experience, helping supporters up McParland Way to the Jackie Husband Stand ahead of kick-off.

Now our new, enhanced partnership for both this season and next includes the Glasgow Taxis logo featuring on Thistle men’s first team warm-up tops and training tops, in addition to a refreshed pitchside advertising toblerone.

The two iconic Glasgow institutions first joined forces in late 2019 and the new agreement means the partnership will run to a fifth year with the option to extend further.

Gerry Britton, Partick Thistle chief executive, said: “Our partnership with Glasgow Taxis has been fantastic for the club to date so we are both very grateful and genuinely thrilled to extend that beyond the current season to cover the 2023/24 campaign too. From their logo on the warm-up and training tops to prominent pitchside advertising and, of course, the Thistle taxi helping on matchdays, it’s a very colourful and visible partnership which adds real value to both parties – and long may that continue.”

Every home matchday, the Thistle taxi – usually driven by Billy MacLachlan, resplendent in red and yellow tie – is available from 90 minutes before kick-off for use by supporters who require assistance on their way up McParland Way (the old South Drive).

Dougie McPherson, Glasgow Taxis chairman, said: “This partnership was born to create a positive link between two Glasgow institutions and has gone from strength to strength since, so it was a no brainer to extend our agreement with the club by a further 12 months.

“The Thistle taxi has been a real winner for us amongst Jags fans, both on matchdays and for private bookings, as well as with visitors to the city who love taking photos of the red and yellow cab – and Billy! We’re just as proud to see our logo on warm-up and training tops and wish Ian and the boys our very best wishes for the rest of this season, we’re with them all the way.”
