Around 60 members of the northwest Glasgow community will enjoy Christmas dinner in company this Sunday including free transport to Petershill Park kindly donated by Glasgow Taxis.
Festive Friends is back, with the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust running it as an in-person event for the first time since 2019, opening Petershill Park’s doors to any individual who may feel isolated at this time of year or who may not have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with others. There they will enjoy Christmas dinner, drinks, fun and games in company and warm surroundings.
All 60 guests will be transported to and from Petershill at no cost thanks to the incredible support of Glasgow Taxis, with dozens of drivers giving up a large portion of their own Christmas Day for the greater good.
The official taxi provider to Partick Thistle Football Club, everyone at Firhill would like to thank Glasgow Taxis for this kindest gesture which makes a significant contribution to PTCT’s ability to run the event.
The transportation is timed to enable the guests, including passengers with wheelchairs and electric scooters, to arrive at 1pm and to leave at 5pm, enabling them to enjoy the entire celebration in fullness.
Dougie McPherson, Glasgow Taxis chairman, said: “We are proud to continue our support of this event which transforms the Christmas Day experience of so many people in communities close to Firhill.
“I must pay credit to each and every driver who will take a large chunk of time out of their own Christmas Day to make sure the work is covered – they are a credit to the trade and to Glasgow.”
