Handley- “I want to give the fans a game that is worth coming to watch.”

Addie Handley and manager David Elliot have shared their thoughts ahead of Sunday’s match against league leaders Rangers.

The Jags were left disappointed with last week’s trip away to Aberdeen, where a late strike from the opposition left the game level. Despite this setback, the team remains focused on the challenges ahead.

Looking ahead, the squad is aiming to use last week’s momentum to drive them forward as they prepare for what will be a difficult game against Rangers.

Addie Handley highlighted the significance of last week’s performance and its impact on the team.

“We are looking to build on the game against Aberdeen that we just played. I think there were a lot of positives to take from that game. Obviously, we were unfortunate to lose the goal in the last minute.

“But as a team, it has been a real turning point in terms of getting back to the way we know we can play. So hopefully we can carry that into the game against Rangers.”

The two sides last met in February with Rangers cruising to a 6-0 victory at Petershill.

Thistle are also searching for their first home win of the season, having lost their opening two home games against Hibernian and Celtic, which have resulted in a combined 12 goals conceded.

Despite the two disappointing results, morale remains high within the team, as Handley highlights the importance of home support while reflecting on recent home results.

“I am disappointed that we have done better away than we have at home. I think it should be the other way around. Many people show up for us, both home and away, but especially at home.

“I just want to give them a game that is worth coming to watch. As I said, unfortunately, that has not been the case in the last two games at home, but hopefully this one can be a turning point too”

Manager David Elliot further emphasised the importance of capitalising on home advantage, despite the challenging task ahead.

“Rangers aren’t going to lead the league for just now; they’re going to be there or thereabouts right up to the end of the season. I have said this before: there are no easy games in this league.

“We are at home, though. We need to make Petershill a place no one really likes to come to. We will play our game, and they will come play their game. They will have a lot of possession, but we need to be big and strong and win the individual battles. Hopefully, we can defend, and when we do, we defend well, and if we get possession, we make good use of it.”

Partick Thistle welcomes the league leaders to Petershill this Sunday. Kick-off is 1pm
