Hendrie: We just need to play them at their own game

Following a frustrating draw against Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park on Saturday, Partick Thistle are on the road once more with an away game against league leaders Arbroath. Ahead of this tough game, Thistle defender Stephen Hendrie sat down with ptfc.co.uk to share his thoughts:

“We’re looking forward to the game, we played Raith at the weekend and it wasn’t the prettiest of games but it’s another point added to the board. Now we’re looking to go up to Arbroath and get the three points.”

Hendrie talked further about the draw against Raith and how results elsewhere in the league have impacted the table.

“We got a point and there was only one goal in our league at the weekend so that keeps everything the same in the top half. The other day against Raith it was probably a fair result, neither team had that many chances but at least we don’t come further away from the pack.”

Stephen reflects on the previous two losses to Arbroath this season and opens up about what the team needs to do differently this time around.

“We know what it’s going to be like up there, what you’re going to be up against when you play Arbroath, it’s going to be in your face and trying to get the second balls but you just need to be up for it, right up tight to them, just play them at their own game and then try to get the win.”

Stephen shares his feelings on the fixture congestion the team is currently facing and how the team deals with the back-to-back fixtures in quick succession.

“We just need to take it a game at a time, with all the call-offs we knew this was going to happen. All I can say is take it a game at a time and that’s all you can do, you can’t look any further on.”
