All supporters are reminded that this evening’s game kicks off at 7:05pm.
Having secured their play-off place on Friday night, Partick Thistle now face Inverness in the first leg of the quarter-finals at Firhill. Ahead of the game, Thistle defender Kevin Holt sat down with ptfc.co.uk to share his thoughts on the upcoming tie:
“I think it has dragged in to get us over the line, but to get there is huge for us and huge for the club to get the chance to go up. The play-offs are a clean slate and I think the games against Inverness have been tight this year. There’s every reason for the boys to be confident going into them and we’ll see what will happen.”
After a defeat to Ayr in the last game of the regular season, Kevin elaborated on his point about the play-offs being a fresh start.
“There have been games this year when we’ve underperformed and obviously Friday night was one of them. You could see how it became a bit of nervous game for us when it should never have been like that. I think we just have to draw a line under it which is something the boys have done pretty well overall this season so hopefully we can move on from Friday and look forward to Tuesday and enjoy it.”
Having played against Inverness four times already this season, Kevin told us what he expects from them in the upcoming games.
“They’re a good team obviously; they’re a top team in the league. They started off brilliantly and then they had that run that put them out of chasing for the title but they finished the league really strong. When we played them here at Firhill last time out we were every bit as good as them, so I think it’ll be a really tight game.
“In the last game up in Inverness that ended in a draw, we didn’t defended well that night and on another day we could have comfortably beat them. I think Tiff was on fire and we caused them a lot of trouble.
“Over the two games it is going to be close but there is no reason for us to go in as underdogs or anything like that, we finished lower in the league, maybe rightfully so, but we’ve shown this year that we can go and beat them.”
With the first leg being played in Maryhill, Kevin is hopeful the Jags can make the most of the home advantage ahead of their Friday trip north.
“I don’t think there will be a score in the first leg that puts either team out of the tie going into the second game, to be honest, but we still want to make the most out of playing at Firhill. We want to be able to take something positive up there so that’s the aim on Tuesday.”
