Alex joined the Club during the 2001/02 season as John Lambie’s Jags closed in on back to back promotions from the Second Division to the Scottish Premier League. The hitman netted a number of crucial goals to help get the side across the line for promotion, including netting on his debut against Airdrieonians.
The 2002/03 campaign would prove to be a successful one as Thistle retained their top flight status helped by Burns’ 16 top flight goals.
