Partick Thistle can this evening confirm the signing of defender Richard Foster on a one-year deal, subject to Scottish FA registration procedures.
The 34-year-old full-back was a product of his home town Elgin Boys Club before joining Aberdeen in 2001. Ironically, his first-team debut for the Dons came in a Premier League game against Thistle at Pittodrie in May 2003. Following almost a decade with Aberdeen he moved to Rangers on loan, then to Bristol City for a season, before returning north of the border for spells with Rangers on a permanent basis, Ross County, St Johnstone, then back to Dingwall. A versatile defender who has also played plenty of football in the middle of the park, Richard joins Thistle as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with the Staggies.
Everyone at Firhill offers Richard a warm welcome to Partick Thistle Football Club.
Manager Ian McCall said: “Richard is a terrific addition to the squad and I’m really pleased to get him. On the pitch he’s played 550 games, most of them at Premier League level, and he’s a very, very fit boy.
“Importantly he’s also strong on the mental side of the game, he is a winner who wants to help us win football matches and he brings a mentality that will only help us.”
