James Lyon joins East Fife on loan

Partick Thistle FC can today confirm that James Lyon has joined cinch League Two side East Fife on a loan deal until the end of the season, subject to Scottish FA clearance.

The 21-year-old heads to New Bayview having made nine appearances, scoring three times, for Kris Doolan’s Jags so far this season with his standout moment being a spectacular last-minute equaliser against Falkirk in the Viaplay Cup group stages.

Lyon played most recently in our Scottish Cup third round tie against Queen’s Park in November and has been a regular feature of the matchday squad since.

Now he’s joining the Fifers in search of more regular minutes under newly appointed boss Dick Campbell with the potential for a debut this weekend as East Fife travel to New Dundas Park to take on Bonnyrigg Rose.

Everyone at the club wishes James the very best for the duration of his loan spell.

Thistle manager Kris Doolan said:

“We’ve been looking at the possibility of getting James a loan for a while now. He started the season brilliantly for us and that shows you what he’s capable of but our midfield is one of the most competitive areas of the squad with Luke McBeth being added to that in January.

“James was out on loan previously in League Two with Stenhousemuir but he was only 18 at the time, now he’s 21 with a bit more first team experience under his belt so we feel he’s primed and ready to make the most of this opportunity and come back an improved player.”
