Partick Thistle can confirm that James Lyon has left the club by mutual consent.
The Partick Thistle Youth Academy graduate signed his modern apprenticeship with the club in July 2021, having already made three competitive first team appearances with his debut coming in a League One match against Forfar Athletic in December 2020.
A loan spell was spent with Stenhousemuir in 2021/22 where the now 21-year-old made 22 appearances with his first appearance as a Warrior marked with a goal against Dumbarton.
After returning to The Jags, James made six top-team appearances penning a new contract extension in the summer of 2023. The youngster featured heavily in the early spell of the 23/24 campaign scoring in successive matches against Falkirk, The Spartans and Airdrieonians before spending the second half of the season on loan with East Fife.
Partick Thistle manager Kris Doolan said: “I would like to thank James for his hard-work during his time at the club and wish him well in whatever he does next. He wants to play games, and we cannot guarantee him that but hopefully he will find a club where he does that.”
James leaves with the thanks of everyone at Partick Thistle and with our best wishes.
