Partick Thistle winger Jamie Taggart has been recalled from his loan spell at St. Cadoc’s and will spend the second half of the season at fellow West of Scotland Football League Premier Division side Glenafton.
The 19-year-old was involved in Thistle’s First Team squad during pre-season including making an appearance against Glenafton in a game that was organised as part of Luke McBeth’s move from Ayrshire to Glasgow, before heading to St Cadoc’s where he helped the Govan based club win the Strathclyde Demolition Cup in a 8-2 Final success over Forth Wanderers.
Jamie’s manager at Loch Park will be former Jag, Paul Paton, and one of his team-mates will be another former Firhill favourite in Chris Erskine, who played nearly 300 games and scored 56 goals in four spells with Thistle.
One further connection between the clubs is Gerry Collins who led Glenafton to a cup double in the mid-2000s after being a player, assistant manager to John Lambie and manager at Thistle. Gerry passed away last May with Partick Thistle remembering him with a minutes’ applause in a game against Montrose.
Thistle manager Kris Doolan said: “Jamie has picked up good experience at St Cadoc’s and he can use that at Glenafton. The West of Scotland Football League Premier Division is a very competitive environment so continuing to play it can only develop Jamie further.”
