Everyone at Partick Thistle was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Jag Jim Fleming, who died on Thursday aged 78.
Thistle fans of a certain vintage will recall Fleming for two spells at Firhill upon the beginning of a long and successful career, during which he also performed with distinction for Luton Town, Dunfermline Athletic, Hearts, Wigan Athletic and Ross County.
The 5ft 9 forward signed for David Meiklejohn and made his debut as a 16-year-old, scoring his first goal in Thistle colours aged just 17 years and 17 days. He would make 140 appearances in red and yellow, scoring 31 times, across his two spells (1958-60 and 1963-65), helping a strong title-chasing Thistle team finish third in the top flight in season 1962-63.
The thoughts and condolences of all connected with Partick Thistle Football Club are with the family and close friends of Jim at this sad time.
