Partick Thistle can today confirm that Joe Cardle will leave the Club upon the expiry of his contract later this month.
Since arriving at Firhill in January 2019, Joe has been a creative spark in the Thistle attack providing valuable assists and delivering crucial goals. Joe was a regular in last season’s title-winning team featuring 26 times for the Jags last season as he played an incredibly important part in our League One success. Thistle’s number seven delivered important goals during the course of last season including the opener in our victory at Peterhead, before getting the title party started with our final goal in our 5-0 thumping against Falkirk at Firhill.
Everyone at Partick Thistle sincerely thanks Joe for his contribution in red and yellow over the last two and a half years and wish him the very best in his future career, both on and off the pitch.
Thistle manager, Ian McCall said:
“There are certain times in your career when it is incredibly hard to deliver bad news to a player. Today was a day like that when I informed Joe that he will be leaving Partick Thistle. He knows my reasons and they will remain private.
“Who knows where our season would have gone if Joe hadn’t came on at half time at East Fife and completely turned the game. He scored 7 goals, had 10 assists and therefore was a big part in our title winning season.
“He was excellent for me as a player and, more importantly, as a person. Joe and his family will always be very welcome back at Firhill.“
