Kakay focused on another home win

One of the quiet successes of the last few weeks for Partick Thistle has been QPR loanee, Osman Kakay. The number 24 has started Thistle’s last five consecutive league games; a run which has seen the Jags lose just once and win three times. The Sierra Leone international has also been pushed out of his comfort zone a little bit, playing at right midfield on a couple of occasions and even on the left flank briefly. Kakay spoke to ptfc.co.uk ahead of this weekend’s Ladbrokes Championship match against Dundee:

“The boys are feeling very positive going into this game. We’re looking to pick up another three points and continue this little run we’re on. We feel like we’re finding that consistency so it’s up to us to work hard every game and make sure that doesn’t slip.”

It’s the second of two back-to-back home fixtures for the Maryhill men and Ossie feels that the team are starting to enjoy playing at home a bit more than they had earlier in the season.

“You want to make your home ground a tough place to come to and we’re getting there. For me personally, I’m feeling more confident at home and I feel like we’re becoming more structured which is giving us a great platform to go and win games.”

Kakay was playing in midfield for the entirety of the win over Caley last week with some time spent on each wing and that’s something that the 22-year-old says he has relished.

“I’ve adjusted well to it I think. I played further up the pitch when I was younger so it’s not completely alien to me but the gaffer has been really good in helping me understand the position better and I feel like I’m now at a point where I’m very comfortable in either role.

“Obviously, when I’m playing in midfield I need to get up and attack a lot more. I’ve got a bit more freedom in that sense than I would at right back so I’ve been working on that and I’m enjoying the opportunities I’m getting.”

Like Inverness last Saturday, Thistle already have the experience of beating Dundee this season but Osman hopes the Jags stay focused on today’s game rather than results from earlier in the campaign.

“It’s a bit of a confidence booster for us knowing that we’ve beaten them and it might give us a bit of an edge psychologically but looking at the league, anyone can beat anyone on any given day so we have to be tuned in if we want to beat them again because I’m sure they’ll be keen to get revenge.”
