After playing a key role in an attacking unit which has scored 14 goals in its last five games, Kyle Turner has been named as the cinch Championship Player of the Month becoming the first Thistle player to win one of the SPFL’s divisional awards since Scott Tiffoney in May 2021.
The Jags’ number six started his month by setting up Kevin Holt for goal number four in a 5-0 win over Cove Rangers before scoring one himself the following week at home against Queen’s Park.
Turner finished the month with a couple of standout performances, firstly at Hamilton where he set up Brian Graham’s opener as well as four further chances over the course of the game.
Then against Arbroath, the midfielder was back on the scoresheet as he bagged both of Thistle’s goals in a 2-0 triumph at Firhill; only being denied a hat-trick by some fantastic goalkeeping from Derek Gaston.
Upon receiving the award, Kyle said:
“It’s been a great month for me personally but more importantly the team has been doing well. One player playing well doesn’t get you anywhere in football so to get the results we’ve been getting, it’s required everyone stepping up and playing their part.
“There’s so much still to play for this season and we feel like we’re in a good bit of form at the moment. The main focus for us just now is going and getting a result on Friday to secure our place in the play-offs and if we can do that, you never know what could happen with second place.”
