Partick Thistle FC is pleased to announce the signing of Lewis Neilson on a season-long loan deal from Hearts, subject to Scottish FA clearance.
The 20-year-old defender was a product of the Dundee United youth system having joined the Tangerines at the age of 10. He made his senior debut for the Tannadice club as a 17-year-old against St. Johnstone in August 2020 and would play nine more games for United before heading out on loan to Falkirk for the back end of the season.
An ankle injury limited his playing time during the following campaign but he still made 10 appearances before departing to sign a three-year deal with Heart of Midlothian. In his debut season at Tynecastle, he played 16 times including five appearances in the UEFA Europa Conference League group stages.
Neilson also has international experience at multiple age levels, most recently taking part in the Scotland under 21s’ June camp over in Spain.
Lewis will wear the number 6 during his time at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill.

Thistle manager Kris Doolan said:
“Lewis is a very talented young player who’ll come to the club hungry for minutes on the pitch. That’s what we want; players who want to be starting every week which will keep everyone on their toes and keep standards high in training.
“He already has some good experience at a great level including in European football so it’s about coming here and building on that. We’ve said all along that we want to bring in players who’ll add quality to the squad and Lewis certainly fits the bill in that regard.”
