Partick Thistle Youth Academy graduate Liam Dolan has been called up to the Scotland Under 17s squad for their upcoming friendlies against Norway and Poland.
This is the 16-year-old defender’s first involvement in the national set-up and it comes off the back of his first professional start against Inverness Caley Thistle in the KDM Evolution Trophy last month.
Liam joined our academy at the age of eight and signed his modern apprenticeship with the club back in May, shortly after debuting as a substitute against Livingston in the Premiership play-offs.
Dolan will join up with Brain McLaughlin’s squad and travel out to Alicante on Sunday, 15th February. He will be unavailable for our Championship home fixture against Airdrieonians as a consequence.
Partick Thistle Youth Academy Director Craig Dargo said:
“It’s always great to see our young players getting the chance to represent their country but especially when it’s a player who has been here from a young age and developed with us like Liam has. He’s an exceptionally talented player who is more than deserving of this call-up.
“You can learn a lot on these international trips both from your teammates and from the opposition you come up against so hopefully Liam can enjoy the experience and come back a better player for it.”
