LOAN NEWS: Connor McAvoy arrives from Fulham

Partick Thistle FC can today announce the signing of Connor McAvoy from Fulham on a loan deal until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.

The 20-year-old, who can play at centre-half or right-back, arrives ahead of tomorrow’s deadline to bolster Ian McCall’s defensive options heading into the latter part of the season.

Connor has been in the Fulham academy system since he was eight years old, most recently featuring regularly for the Cottagers’ Premier League 2 side though he has also had some previous loan experience with Wealdstone in the National League last season.

Connor has been recognised at international level by Scotland, featuring three times for the under 21s’ so far this season, having previously featured regularly for the Scotland under 19, under 18 and under 17 squads.

Thistle manager Ian McCall said:

“I’m very pleased to add Connor to our squad for the reminder of the season. He has a lot of good qualities in a central defender to go far in his career and I know he is very highly thought of at Fulham. Connor has already been capped by Scotland at under 21 level and has a lot to learn but I’m sure he will prove to be a real asset for us for the rest of the season.

“Connor had a number of other options to go on loan, including to Premiership clubs, so for him to choose to come to Firhill is a boost to everyone at the Club. He’s come to play and get game time in an incredibly competitive division and I’m really looking forward to working with him over the next few months.”

Connor will wear the number 18 shirt during his time at Firhill.
