Luis Cameron heads to Drumchapel United on loan

Partick Thistle FC can confirm that goalkeeper Luis Cameron has joined Drumchapel United on a loan deal until January, subject to Scottish FA clearance.

A graduate of the Partick Thistle Youth Academy, 18-year-old Luis signed his modern apprenticeship with the club last July alongside Che Campbell and Thomas Horn before heading out on loan to Johnstone Burgh.

This summer he’s played in two first team friendlies, against Glenafton Athletic and Hamilton Accies, and has also been named in two matchday squads during the Premier Sports Cup group stages.

Now he makes the temporary move to The Drum with the aim of earning first team opportunities in the West of Scotland League Premier Division and he will be eligible to make his debut tomorrow night against Largs Thistle.

There will be a few other Jags youth products to keep him company during his loan spell with Ruaridh McIntyre and Billy Owens both signed as players and Ryan Scully working as goalkeeping coach.

Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson said:

“With the arrival of Josh Clarke last week, we’ve strengthened the depth of our goalkeeping group so a loan move makes a lot of sense for Luis.

“I feel he’s been developing well during pre-season and has been learning every day. We want that to continue with the added challenge of playing senior football in a competitive division and joining Drumchapel United is perfect for that.”
