Mansell looking to keep up personal and team form

Lewis Mansell is looking for build on a great week for the club and him personally as Arbroath travel to Glasgow in Ladbrokes Championship action.

Mansell grabbed the third of the game to seal all three points against Dundee, his first goal of the season, before scoring the only goal of the game in a closed door friendly during the week.

Now the striker is hoping to take that form into the game on Saturday as Thistle look to grab back to back league wins for the first time this season and stretch the winning run to three.

Speaking to ptfc.co.uk Mansell said: ”If I can help the team in any way possible then that is the main thing but on a personal note it’s good to finally hit the back of the net this season and hopefully I can carry that on and try and get some more to help the team get some more points.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s a league game or a closed door friendly, to me it doesn’t matter what type of game you are playing, a goal is a goal. Getting back to back goals really puts my confidence up so I’m feeling great going into Saturday and hoping to grab another goal.”

Lewis feels the wins have lifted the mood of the squad and they are now on a high and ready to take on the Angus side.

“We’re all really looking forward, after the great result at the weekend we can’t wait to get back out and try and carry on the good run of fun.

“The game two weeks ago against Connah’s Quay Nomads really gave us a boost and then we built on that last weekend with a great result. Especially after the first half we kept going and fighting and we got the result we deserved I think in the end.

“It’s given us a lot of confidence and training has been great, it’s been really positive, and we feel we can go and put a good performance in on Saturday.”

The Jags number 18 does admits however the home form has to improve

“The fans travel to wherever we play and they’ve been great all season, home and away and I think it’s only right we try and put on a good performance at home on Saturday and give them a bit more to celebrate at home and that will need to start on Saturday.

“We know Arbroath will be a tough test, they’ve been great since they’ve come up but we feel it’s a match we can win, we feel it’s a match we have to go out and show progress, to show how far we’ve come and to get ourselves off the foot of the table.”

The striker is hopeful of another three points and hopes another win will be the springboard of even better times.

“A few wins really have lifted the mood of the place, everyone has a spring in their step and we want to keep that going. I think if we can win on Saturday and get back to back wins in the league then it will give us another boost and I don’t think there will be any stopping us after that.”
