For the third time this season, Mark Wilson has been named Glen’s Vodka SPFL Championship Manager of the Month.
Having previously won the October and November awards, Mark now receives the January prize after his team earned seven points from four league games last month.
The Jags claimed impressive victories against Greenock Morton and Ayr United at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill, coming back from 2-0 down to defeat the Ton and holding off a second half fightback from the Honest Men.
Wilson’s team were also able to take a hard-fought point away from McDiarmid Park in their last fixture of January as Oisin Smyth’s brace ensured a stalemate in that top-of-the-table clash.
After being presented with the award, Mark said:
“January was extremely challenging for us because of a sick bug that we just couldn’t seem to shake off. Most people in the squad or backroom staff were affected by it at some point so I have to give immense credit to those who fought through it to contribute to what was ultimately a very positive month for us.
“We showed similar fight on the pitch too; we came from 2-0 down to beat Morton, battled hard to see out a win against Ayr and scored in the 96th minute to take a point at McDiarmid Park. That’s the sort of character you have to show if you’re going to do well in this league.
“After getting a big win in the cup at the weekend, we’ve now got three important league games in a row so we’re fully focused on making February another good month for the club.”
