Mascot Saad loves Thistle thanks to Jags For Good

Friday night was extra special for one young Thistle supporter – five-year-old Saad Boutrid who was matchday mascot for our cinch Premiership play-off semi-final first leg against Ayr United.

Saad and his dad Mouadh are relatively new Jags fans, catching Firhill fever this season after being gifted season tickets by Central and West Integration Network, all thanks to a successful Jags For Good campaign last summer.

Father and son Boutrid arrived in Scotland from Algeria three years ago and – as an avid football fan – Mouadh was looking for a new team to support with his boy. Thanks to Jags For Good’s season ticket campaign, backed by donations totalling £17,500 from hundreds of Thistle supporters, the pair became season ticket holders at Firhill and have now enjoyed many matches in Maryhill this season.

The 2022/23 season tickets were donated to a number of Glasgow charities including Central and West Integration Network, supporting asylum seekers and refugees, migrant workers and black and minority ethnic people, which ensured two made their way to Saad and Mouadh.

Everyone at the club is delighted Saad enjoyed his big night, including meeting his hero Steven Lawless, and we would like to thank Jags For Good, Central and West Integration Network and all supporters who backed this brilliant campaign.
