Partick Thistle can today announce that goalkeeper Mason McCready has joined Cowdenbeath on a season-long loan deal, subject to Scottish FA clearance.
The 19-year-old has had previous loan experience with Gretna 2008 and Gala Fairydean Rovers and now heads to Central Park to gain more first team experience in the Lowland League.
A Thistle Weir Youth Academy Graduate, Mason has been training with the Jags senior team for two years now and has featured in a couple of our pre-season friendlies during that time, most recently against Alloa Athletic at the Indodrill Stadium.
We wish Mason all the best for the duration of his loan spell.
Thistle manager Ian McCall said:
“This is a good opportunity for Mason to go out and fight to be the first choice goalkeeper at a good level. He’ll train with Cowdenbeath one night each week but will remain in and around the squad so we can see him continue to develop in the months ahead.
“He’s a promising young player who’s shown a lot of potential training with the first team squad but with Jamie Sneddon and David Mitchell both here at the club, it made sense for him to go out on loan and hopefully play plenty of games.”
