2026 got off to an excellent start for Partick Thistle WFC with a 4-0 Scottish Cup win over Boroughmuir Thistle but we aren’t quite finished with 2025 with the nominees for the December McArthur Scott Player of the Month award.
December saw Partick Thistle WFC record a vital league win over Motherwell, knock Livingston out of the Scottish Cup and produce an excellent performance even in defeat against Rangers.
On the basis of those 3 games the four nominees are:
Olivia King
Midfielder King played in all three of the December fixtures and produced three top quality performances in particular in the vital win over Motherwell where Olvia produced a dominant performance in the middle of the part helping provide the platform for the eventual victory.
Jo Love
The victory over Motherwell was sealed by a quite fantastic injury time free kick. That strike alone would have merited a nomination but Jo’s performances across the month of December were so much more than just that one goal. Her experience and drive have been of vital importance.
Cheryl McCulloch
Experience is also something that Cheryl McCulloch has aplenty. Cheryl has been filling the left back role of late and filling that role with no little aplomb. Her strength has not just been an asset in the defensive side of the game but also in attacking sense with Cheryl contributing an assist for the opening goal against Livingston.
Keira Syrjanen
In contrast to Jo Love and Cheryl McCulloch, Keira Syrjanen is at the opposite end of her career. Keira made the step up to SWPL football in the summer when she joined Thistle from Ross County and her development and maturity as a player over the course of the season has seen her become a key member of the squad. She made her first start against Livingston in the Scottish Cup and also started the league game against Rangers.
