McCrea Financial Services April Player of the Month

After a healthy points return during March, April presented Partick Thistle with the chance to secure their spot in the cinch Premiership play-offs and maintain the positive momentum built up in recent weeks.

A couple of trips to Fife followed by home games against Airdrieonians and Ayr were navigated without Kris Doolan’s side tasting defeat, most notably beating play-off rivals Airdrieonians 4-0 at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill.

Now, it’s time to select your McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for April from the following candidates:

Brian Graham

The Thistle skipper has been met with a deluge of personal recognition during the month of April as his selection in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year was announced as well as his nominations for the Championship Player of the Year and SWPL Manager of the Year. The off-field fun and games haven’t distracted our number nine from his duties on the pitch though as he’s fired in another three goals in four games, taking him to 24 for the season and making it the highest scoring individual season for a Jag this century. He’s looking to add the club Player of the Month prize to the league one which he was awarded today.

Luke McBeth

After a trial run in central defence at the end of March, Luke McBeth has fully made the position his own during April. With headers and blocks aplenty, the 24-year-old contributed to three clean sheets in four games as the Jags conceded just one goal over the course of the month. Considering he was playing junior football at the back end of 2023, McBeth’s adaption to professional football has been remarkable and he’s gone from strength to strength since getting his chance in the side.

Jack McMillan

Another key cog in the reborn Jags backline, Jack McMillan’s role on the right-hand side has become even more important since the team lost Steven Lawless to an Achilles injury in the first game of the month. Playing just behind Zander MacKenzie against Raith Rovers and then Kerr McInroy against Airdrieonians and Ayr, the full-back has helped the two less experienced wide men as they adjust to an unusual role on the flank.

David Mitchell

Keeping five clean sheets in his last six games including three in April, David Mitchell has returned to the team seamlessly over the past couple of months. His defence have done a good job of protecting the goal but, when called upon, Mitchell has been on hand to keep the opposition at bay. His best moments included a key stop to deny Zak Rudden in the first half against Raith Rovers and a big save to keep out Lewis McGregor just after the half hour mark against Airdrieonians.
