It’s been another action-packed month for Partick Thistle. The Jags started the month with February’s only home fixture against Cove Rangers, before travelling to Govan to face Rangers in what resulted to be a thrilling Scottish Cup tie. The away miles were clocked up as Thistle claimed 7 precious points with victories over both Ayr United and Dundee and earning a hard fought draw against Arbroath.
Now, it’s time to pick the McCrea Financial Services Player of the Month for February from the following four nominees:
Ross Docherty
Following his return to the pitch during our Scottish Cup tie this month, Ross Docherty picked up where he left off in fine form at the heart of Thistle’s midfield. Hosting a number of goal threatening chances during Thistle’s victory to Ayr United before maintaining a consistent performance seven days later away to Arbroath, the Jags captain has proven a vital figure in the positive results whilst on the road.
Jack McMillan
Featuring in all of Thistle’s fixtures throughout February, Jack has been at the heart of a strong Thistle defence. His standout moment of the month was to be found in the fixture at Somerset Park as it was his high cross into a dangerous attacking position in the opening half hour that found the head of Danny Mullen to give the Jags the advantage, and eventually awarded them the all-important three points.
Harry Milne
An ever-present nominee for the Player of the Month, Harry Milne has proven to continue to be an influential player throughout February. The full-back’s most notable performance this month came in front of goal during the 3-1 victory over Dundee in which he provided the ball for Brian Graham’s finish before netting himself in the 80th minute. At the other end, Harry showed his ability to stabilise the Thistle defence, providing an all-round performance which helped bring the three points back to Maryhill.
Jamie Sneddon
Like Harry, Jamie features as a nominee for the second month in a row, having provided some vital saves which proved as the catalyst to the 7-point return in the last three games. His consistency proved prevalent from his 65th minute penalty save to deny James Tavernier at Ibrox being one of his highlights of a month where he went on to keep two consecutive clean sheets during Thistle’s travels to both Ayr and Arbroath.
