Following our title-winning League One campaign last season there are no shortage of candidates for the McCrea Mortgages Player of the Year award. The red and yellow army have the choice of EIGHT nominees to scoop the final award of the 2020/21 season.
Nominated for the McCrea Mortgages Player of the Year award, as picked by Jags manager Ian McCall, are:
STUART BANNIGAN
Midfielder Stuart Bannigan was one of the team’s most consistent performers this season starting 25 of the Jags’ 28 games across the campaign. The 28-year-old formed a formidable partnership with Ross Docherty in the middle of the park which allowed Thistle to dominate games more consistently as the season went on. Arriving at the club in March on loan from East Kilbride, Steven Bell’s effect was felt both on and off the field. DARREN BROWNLIE
A virtual ever-present for the Maryhill men over the 2020/21 season, Darren Brownlie was a pivotal part of the side’s defensive excellence. The centre-half played more minutes than any other Jag, featuring in all 15 of the team’s clean sheets, and frustrated countless strikers with his aerial dominance and expert positioning. Is he your pick for the McCrea Mortgages Player of the Year prize?

ROSS DOCHERTY
It was an eventful first season with Thistle for Ross Docherty who arrived from Ayr United last summer but the number 23 ended the campaign as Jags captain with the League One trophy in his hands. The midfielder only missed three league fixtures during the season as he led Thistle’s charge towards the title also grabbing his first goal for the club in the process as he netted in a 2-0 win over Forfar in December. RICHARD FOSTER
Richard Foster made an early season move from right-back to left-back and the 35-year-old proved to be a standout in the Jags defence. He was another player who provided vital experience at the tail end of the season, playing 90 minutes in all of the side’s final eight games. BRIAN GRAHAM
Brian Graham ended the season as the team’s top scorer with 11 goals from 19 League One matches as well as five assists. The striker was in a particularly rich vein of form as the side returned from their enforced break with Brian scoring seven times in 11 league appearances, including a brace as the Jags secured the title with a 5-0 win over Falkirk. Is Brian your pick for the 2020/21 McCrea Mortgages Player of the Year award?

ZAK RUDDEN
The first half of the season was a frustrating time for Zak Rudden as injuries denied him the chance to get a regular run of games, however, it was a different story all together during March and April. The number 10 got his first Thistle goal against Cowdenbeath in the Scottish Cup before breaking his league duck with a double against Clyde at Firhill. The goals against the Bully Wee started an incredible stretch of scoring form as the 21-year-old bagged five goals in three games before adding one more in our title-clinching triumph over Falkirk. Do you think Zak should be our McCrea Mortgages Player of the Year?

SCOTT TIFFONEY
If you ever need an example of someone hitting the ground running, look no further than Scott Tiffoney’s loan move to Partick Thistle during the 2020/21 term. The winger arrived from Livingston in March and was setting up Shea Gordon for a goal just hours after the deal had been announced. He went on to score twice later that week in his league debut at Airdrieonians and those two games proved to be a real sign of things to come. By the season’s end, Tiffoney had eight goals and four assists in just 13 appearances. Has he earned your vote for the McCrea Mortgages Player of the Year ballot?
