Message from the Jags Trust

Condolences

It was with much sadness that the Jags Trust heard of the death of another Thistle stalwart, Bobby Harvey.

The Jags Trust join with the Club in sending their condolences to Cat, family and friends at this very sad time. We hope the great memories left behind can sustain you through the days and weeks ahead of a family man, entertainer and died in the wool Jags fan.

Forever a Jag.

Supporters Voices are Heard

Life as football fans have not experienced over the past eighteen months changed last Saturday. Thistle travelled to Arbroath and yes AWAY supporters were welcomed to watch the team. Unfortunately, the result was not as we hoped. The normalisation of meeting up and travelling on one of the three supporters’ buses made life appear to have returned to normal. Long may it continue.

Next Saturday looked like being a busy day if you were a Jags and Scotland supporter. Difficult choices would need to be made. You couldn’t have your cake and eat it.

The hierarchy of football in Scotland appear to think that it is ok to fill the international weekends with the continuation of football in the lower leagues and tournaments. Why should these supporters have to make a choice of Club or Country? Percentage wise, the number of Thistle fans of both Club and Country appears to be disproportionate to the overall size of the fan base. Not through a scientific study but experience shows that lower league supporters are visibly in larger numbers following the country home or away.

Why do we raise this? Jags fans were between a rock and a hard place? Decide to travel to Stranraer for the SPFL Trust Trophy second round game and miss the match at Hampden, or kick around in Glasgow for the day and listen to Jagzone before travelling to Hampden.

Individual supporters and the travel Branches explained and discussed their dilemma with Partick Thistle Club CEO should kick-off be at the regular time. Supporters’ voices were heard. Conversations between clubs and officials resulted in an early kick off to enable a trip to Hampden in the evening. Fingers crossed the results of both games make everything worthwhile.

Today The Jags Trust Board welcomes to Firhill, the Chairperson, Office Bearers and Committee Members of Greenock Morton Supporters Trust for SPFL cinch Championship match.
