Message from the Jags Trust – 20th November 2021

Football Family Left Bereft!

It was with deep sadness that the football family heard the news of the passing of Bertie Auld.

He is forever written into the history of Partick Thistle never to be forgotten.

Bertie was part of the fabric of Firhill. The individual a giant and definite legend. The stories of his time as manager are recounted by many and are hilarious.

Partick Thistle Supporters Association “The Jags Trust” join Thistle supporters from around the world to send our condolences to the family and friends of Bertie Auld.

“The World Cop”

On Sunday 7 November 2021 Supporters Direct Scotland had the pleasure of welcoming 50 delegates, activists and friends from COP26 to Toryglen Football Centre within the Football Square Mile. Skill levels varied but Adrian from Spirit of Football ensured everyone took part in a hilarious warm-up before playing indoors several five-a-side matches.

Football is a common world language as is the topic of the weather. These two subjects complimented each other and stimulated conversations about climate change amongst the attendees from all corners of the globe.

The event finished in the usual manner with a trophy presentation. In the theme of inclusion everyone was a winner and the trophy was made from recycled sports items.

The day was not finished and it was not to be a relaxing evening for the 50 footballers. They made a short bus journey to Hamilton where they were being hosted at a further sports event.

Thanks to Spirit of Football and Cool Down – The Sport & Climate Action Network and “One Ball One World” for an inclusive and fun football tournament.

We hope that the positive impact from Glasgow COP26 continues to improve the life of the planet and its populations will continue at COP27 in Egypt 2022.

Today Partick Thistle Supporters Association Jags Trust Board welcomes to Firhill, the Chairperson, Office Bearers and Committee Members of Hamilton FC “Accies Supporters Trust” for SPFL cinch Championship match.
