Andréa Mbuyi-Mutombo scored his second goal in as many games at the start of his Thistle career but was disappointed it wasn’t enough to help the team to a result against Celtic in the Betfred Cup
The attacker was left feeling what might have been after the game.
Speaking to ptfc.co.uk he said: “I am disappointed with the result, we fought hard back to 1-1 then switched off and if you do that against Celtic they will score like they did.
“We thought we played well but I do not like to lose so I will never be happy after a defeat. Performances don’t matter, results matter and we didn’t get the one we wanted.”
Andréa grabbed the equaliser after being set up by Aidan Fitzpatrick and promises the Thistle support there is more to come.
“I am happy with the start I have made for the club, I thank God for that and this is not the finished me, it is just the start.
“I hope I will be able to help the team more and more and hopefully after some more games I will be able to form more partnerships with team mates and things become automatic and we will all know each other’s games more.
“I can play many positions, I have played many through my career. I don’t think it matters where I play, I want to be on the ball, I want to make a difference. This is my game, I like to go at people and go forward.”
Despite the cup exit Mutombo knows the main focus remains on the league
“We are out the cup but the priority is the league, a win would be nice but we are looking at the league this season. We have lost today but we have two very good wins before and we want to take this to Dundee next week and get another.”
Thistle travel to Dundee next week to face Dundee United and the Thistle number 18 knows the hard work ahead of that starts straight away
“We have a very important game next week, we will recover well and work as hard as we possibly can in training.
“This is what we do, we recover then work hard every week, we keep working and working and the results will show”
