Partick Thistle FC is pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Myles Roberts on a season-long loan deal from Watford, subject to SFA approval and international clearance.
The 22-year-old Englishman has been with the Hornets since 2020 when he joined from Reading where he’d been since the age of 10.
Roberts has enjoyed plenty of previous loan experience in English non-league, most notably and recently in the National League South with Welling United where he won the Manager’s Player of the Year award for 2022/23.
His form while out on loan was rewarded by Watford with a new two-year contract which he signed last summer and a handful of call-ups to the first team matchday squad.
Thistle manager Kris Doolan said:
“It’s no secret that we’ve been looking to add a goalkeeper to the group especially after David Mitchell picked up his injury against Clyde so we’re delighted to bring Myles in.
“He’s a player who comes highly recommended from contacts at Watford and having been out on loan in England previously he also has a good grasp of what it’s like playing in a first team environment every week.
“From my initial conversations with him I can tell he’s excited to be joining the club and hungry to make an impact as a Partick Thistle player. He’s had the chance to meet some of the squad today but he’ll join training tomorrow and I’m sure he’ll settle to this group well.”
