New Year message from the Chairman

How best to summarise 2021? Magical highs with a hard-fought league title win and promotion offset by financial challenges and issues created by covid. But we got through and here we are ready to push on, on and off the pitch, in 2022.

On behalf of the Board, I want to pay tribute to Ian McCall, his staff and the players for giving us all the chance to forget our troubles for a while in 2021 and celebrate a spectacular league title success that righted the wrong done to us.

To Gerry and the club staff, who kept everything going when things were at their worst, thank you seems inadequate but it’s genuinely meant.

To our volunteers and temporary staff who stepped up last year despite the challenges and uncertainty, you are heroes, every one of you – we couldn’t have got through without your help.

To my fellow directors, your unseen hard work and belief made all the difference in getting us here in one piece, reputation and business intact. Thank you.

Finally to you, the fans – no matter how difficult it got last year, you were with us. Not standing behind us but beside us, shoulder to shoulder. A huge thank you to each and every one of you for your support, in all its forms. Might be more of that needed in 2022 but I know we can count on you to be there.

The next few weeks ahead are going to define the rest of the season and while we hope for the best on the pitch, we will prepare for the worst off it as covid continues to bite. But there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming year, from success on the pitch to fan ownership off it.  I promise that whatever comes at us, we will deal with it as we’ve now done for the last 22 months with thought, care and love for this Club and you, our fans.

For now, all that’s left is to wish you and yours a peaceful and Happy New Year. Stay safe and take care until we can meet again at Firhill.

Jacqui Low, Chairman, Partick Thistle Football Club.
