Nisbet happy with first goal

Kevin Nisbet grabbed his first senior goal in Thistle colours and despite Thistle going down 2-1 in a friendly against Dumbarton the striker was pleased with his night.

Speaking to ptfc.co.uk he said: “I’m delighted to get my first goal for the first team. That first goal is always important so it’s great to get it before the season starts.

“It gives me a lift and some confidence now going into the season and i just need to keep working hard and hopefully some more can follow now.”

Nisbet grabbed his goal knocking in a Christie Elliott cross and almost grabbed a second when he saw a free kick cannon off the crossbar for what would have been a spectacular strike for the forward.

“I almost got the second, a lot of the Dumbarton boys said the keeper got a touch on to the bar but I was gutted not to get it but it lets the manager see that I can be useful in those situations.”

Kevin is looking to kick on after a couple of loan spells and is hoping to feature more often in the season ahead.

“It’s always been my aim to force myself into the managers plans this season. After the two loan spells at East Stirling and Ayr United I now need to push forward and try and establish myself as a first team player here.”

“I played in a few different areas tonight and over pre-season so it’s good to just get used to playing different positions to help the team as much as I can.”

Next up is a trip to Livingston as Thistle start their competitive season in the Betfred cup and Nisbet is hoping to start the season well.

“We have the first competitive game now, our pre-season is over now and the real stuff starts. We have to be on the ball straight away and make sure we do things properly.

“It was disappointing not to get a result tonight but it’s more important to learn and get our match sharpness so we are ready to go for Saturday.”
