Last Christmas around 30 elderly Glaswegians received a day to remember thanks to Partick Thistle and its charitable trust, in a “Festive Friends” project which was facilitated by the SPFL Trust
Festive Friends is simply an opportunity to create something special for elderly people experiencing isolation, by bringing them together with others in the same position and giving them a Christmas to remember.
We received such positive feedback last year that we want to do it all over again. But we need your help!
The trust has received backing from Tesco Bags for Help scheme but needs Jags fans to get them over the finishing line. The trusts application for funding has reached the voting stage and any Jags fans shopping in Tesco throughout Glasgow will be able to back the cause.
To vote, you will need to make a purchase within store of any value. You will receive one token per transaction and it’s not necessary to purchase a carrier bag in order to receive a token! Simply put the token into the Partick Thistle Charitable Trust section of the large glass counter to give them your backing. You can vote at a number of Tesco’s throughout Glasgow including Maryhill, St Rollox and branches in the city centre.
Charitable Trust Manager, Paul Kelly said “ Our first Festive Friends event at Christmas last year was a wonderful experience not only for the participants, but also for the staff and volunteers alike.
“Helping people cope and bringing happiness on such a special day meant that everyone had good fun and felt valued and fulfilled. Very few events can bring all of this together at the same time. It is truly amazing.”
Voting ends on Tuesday 31st October, so vote for us to allow the charitable trust to deliver another Christmas to remember for more Festive Friends.
