Left sided defender Paddy Reading, who started his career at Middlesbrough, joins The Jags on a two-year contract after a free transfer that contains future performance related conditional payments was agreed between the clubs, subject to Scottish FA approval.
The now 25-year-old spent five years at the Honest Men after joining them from Stevenage in 2020.
During his time with the Somerset Park club Paddy picked up four caps for the Scotland under-21 side, as well as featuring in over 180 senior matches, and he found the net three times with one of his strikes winning an Ayrshire Derby against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.
Paddy said: “I am very pleased and very excited to be a Partick Thistle player. This is a big club, it is ambitious, and it is good to be a part of it. The potential at this club is huge. The players have shown every season where they want to go, and they have been close, so it is all about getting to that next stage.”
“I only found out about Thistle’s interest recently. I was on holiday and got a message from my agent. I was delighted to hear about it, and we got things done as soon as I could.”
“I know Logan Chalmers from his time at Ayr, and I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the boys this week. I have played at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill a few times and all I can say about my record is that I am glad to be playing for the home team now.”
Partick Thistle Head Coach Mark Wilson added: ““I am really pleased to get Paddy on board. He has played nearly 150 games in the Championship which means that he has terrific experience to call on.”
“He can also play in a number of different positions which will gives us the option of playing different formations.”
This year, Partick Thistle celebrates a truly historic milestone — our 150th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, we’re proud to launch the ‘Jags for Generations’ Season Ticket, giving every supporter the chance to be part of a landmark season in style.
