Partick Thistle Football Club are delighted to join forces with the club’s Disabled Supporters Association to recognise Tuesday, March 25 as National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day.
The entire month of March is recognised worldwide as National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month, with March 25 the focal point.
Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day was created to highlight the experiences of people with CP to promote inclusion and encourage a show of support by wearing green. Whilst green is not included in Partick Thistle colours, we are sure an exception can be made today.
Cerebral Palsy affects movement, muscle strength and coordination and the club along with their partners at the PTDSA believe that raising awareness is essential as CP can impact individuals in different ways with more research and education needed to enhance the lives of those affected.
General Manager at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill Levi Gill said: “The PTDSA do a terrific job for all their members and we are delighted to show our support alongside them for National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day.”
“Charlene and Steven lead the PTDSA well in their respective roles and we are working in partnership on a number of projects to help them reach their objectives.”
Charlene O’Hara, Treasurer of the PTDSA added: “It is great that the Club are supporting National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day. It is the perfect opportunity to kickstart a string of disability awareness campaigns by the PTDSA in partnership with the Club.”
“PTDSA Secretary, Steven Andrew and I both have lived experience of Cerebral Palsy, and we know that some of our Members do as well – with the disability impacting us all in different ways.”
“By raising awareness of Cerebral Palsy and indeed any disability, whether visible or invisible, we are tackling discrimination through educating people and ensuring that Firhill is a safe and welcoming space for all.”
