The opening month of the 2025/26 SWPL season presented a very tricky trio of fixtures for Partick Thistle Women’s FC with a tough away game against Hamilton Accies followed by a pair of home matches against full-time opposition, however, David Elliot’s Jags came out the other end with a precious three points in their pocket.
Now, with September’s slate already underway, it’s time to decide who was the Player of the Month for August from the following candidates!
We Thank Adapt Commercial Property who have supported our Player of the Month award for the last two seasons. They move to become our proud sleeve sponsors.

Jeni Currie
Thistle’s number one was kept busy last month as she made a total of 12 saves across three games. Unsurprisingly the majority of those came against Celtic and the defending champions, Hibs, but Currie was also called upon in the victory at Hamilton. With less than 15 minutes remaining, Sophie Townsley burst through on goal and looked set to put Accies ahead but Jeni stood tall to parry the shot away and give the team the platform to go and win the game.
Addie Handley
One of the club’s summer signings, Addie Handley played every minute of the team’s three games in August. She featured at left-back and on the left-hand side of midfield, winning the ball back 27 times and winning 79% of her duels as well as setting up the decisive goal against Hamilton on the opening day of the campaign.
Jo Love
Scotland legend Jo Love made the ideal start to her time at Partick Thistle by scoring the side’s first goal of the new SWPL season. Just before half-time at New Douglas Park, after a corner had initially been cleared, Demi Falconer rolled the ball into the midfielder’s path at the edge of the box and she confidently strode forward and fired a right-footed effort into the top corner of the net. She followed up that positive first impression by playing the full 90 against both Celtic and Hibs, quickly establishing herself as a key cog in the Thistle machine.
Erin Rennie
Another scorer on debut, Erin Rennie could hardly have opened her Jags account in more dramatic fashion. In the dying seconds of the league opener against Hamilton, a crucial Jenna Ferguson block at one end spawned a counter-attack heading towards the other. The ball was flicked over the Accies defence for Rennie to run on to and, having hit the bar earlier in the piece, she composed herself and calmly guided it past Chloe Nicolson to secure the points for her team.
