Partick Thistle Women September Player of the Month

Taking on a tough run of fixtures during the month of September, the PTWFC squad may well have felt they could have had more out of their four games.

Starting off with last-minute heartbreak at Balmoral Stadium against Aberdeen as a win became a draw in the 94th minute, they then led for 54 minutes against Rangers before eventually succumbing to a 4-1 defeat.

They were on the other end of a fightback against Motherwell when they came from behind to claim a valuable point at K-Park in East Kilbride before then losing to Hearts at Petershill in the last game of the month.

Now, it’s time to decide who stood out for the Jags in September and deserves the Partick Thistle Women Player of the Month award!

Demi Falconer

Thistle’s Captain Fantastic was, as usual, an important piece of the puzzle during September with a significant amount of defending required – particularly in the games against Rangers and Hearts at home. Falconer won 78% of her headers and made 27 interceptions across the four fixtures.

Addie Handley

The only player nominated for both the August and September awards, Handley has very quickly become one of David Elliot’s most trusted players. She started all four games last month, winning the ball back 33 times in total and earning the Player of the Match award against Rangers.

Cheryl McCulloch

Cheryl McCulloch started September playing at left-back in the team’s 1-1 draw against Aberdeen and she won the ball back 12 times in that game alone. Starting in central defence in the other three fixtures last month, she won 88% of her defensive duels during the draw against Motherwell in East Kilbride.

Hannah Robinson

Robinson is Thistle’s early-season assist leader with three in all competitions and two of those came over the course of September. Firstly, at Aberdeen it was Hannah’s cross into the box which fell for Lia Tweedie to poke home and then in the loss to Rangers she provided the through ball to Rachel Donaldson which produced the Jags’ opener after 14 minutes.
