Partick Thistle Women to play at Wyre Stadium at Firhill

Just over a week ago, as we took on Celtic in Scottish Power WPL action at Petershill Park, there was a record attendance for a Partick Thistle Women’s FC home match as we welcomed 366 fans into the ground.

This latest record is indicative of the growing support that follows the team but we are always looking for ways to continue moving forward, on and off the pitch.

As such, we are delighted to announce that our upcoming league fixture against Hamilton Accies Women on 5th November will be played at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill representing the team’s first game at the home of the Jags since we became Partick Thistle Women’s FC in 2019.

Currently sitting in sixth place, every match is crucial for Brian Graham’s side as they look to replicate and better the outstanding achievements of last season when they finished as one of the six best teams in the country.

So with a big three points on offer against Accies, we’re looking to get as many supporters along to the Wyre Stadium at Firhill as possible to encourage the team and help them get a positive result.

PTWFC CEO Caroline Mackie said:

“This is something we’ve been working on for a while now so it’s fantastic to see it come to fruition. The fanbase at Petershill Park has been steadily growing for a few years and now we want to take the next step.

“We want all young supporters to see both the men’s and women’s team playing at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill and understand that they are very much welcome as part of the Partick Thistle community and that they can all dream of playing here for the club they love one day”.

PTWFC manager Brian Graham added:

“I know exactly what it feels like to play in front of a big home crowd at Firhill and it can really make the difference out there on the pitch. This team encapsulates so many of the best things about our football club so I really hope that we see a good numbers of Jags fans coming along to the game.

“Whether you’ve been at every one of our games this season or have never been to a women’s game before, I encourage you to come along and see for yourself what this team is all about and hopefully cheer us on to a victory.”

Partick Thistle Commercial Director Beth Adamson said:

“Here at Thistle there is real pride in the links which exist between the men’s team and the women’s team and the way in which PTWFC has continually grown over an extensive period of time.

“We want to help that growth continue in any way we can and facilitating this game at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill will make for a great occasion for the club as a whole.”

PTWFC will be back at their regular home ground of Petershill Park the following Sunday, November 12 where they will be in Sky Sports Cup Quarter-Final action against Montrose.
