Partick Thistle Women’s FC are back in action this Sunday as they take on Kilmarnock in the SWPL Cup.
The team got their 2020 campaign started last weekend with a 2-0 victory over Glasgow Women on SWPL opening weekend, getting their league term off to a winning start.
Clare Docherty opened the scoring for the home side after just 1 minute and 38 seconds as a nice team move progressed play into the Glasgow box where Suzanne Mulvey teed up Docherty to finish from a tough angle under pressure.
The Jags managed a second before the half-hour mark and this time Suzanne Mulvey was the scorer rather than the creator. A long-throw from Eleanor Smith fell to the accomplished forward and Mulvey proceeded to lob Natalie Docherty in the Glasgow goal from 20 yards out, showing the goalscoring touch which won her the SWPL 2 Player of the Year award in 2018.
Now we turn our attentions to cup football with Kilmarnock the opposition. A well-known adversary from last season’s league season, the Rugby Park side drew their SWPL 2 opener against Aberdeen.
The game kicks off at 12pm at Petershill Park on Sunday and ticket prices are as below:
