As the January transfer window slammed shut last night, Partick Thistle managed to get one more signing over the line. One of the nation’s favourite pizza restaurant chains, Pizza Express, has become the latest company to get on board with the Jags as a corporate sponsor, signing a deal until the end of the season.
Pizza Express will become the club’s official Half Time Entertainment Sponsor, providing prizes for the weekly Crossbar Challenge competition. In addition the Pizza Express logo will appear on the Firhill News page of the programme.
Pizza Express will also do their own bit to keep Thistle’s good run of form going, by making sure that the Jags’ very own fish, Conor Sammon, is kept well fed! The pizza chain will provide Sammon with one free pizza every time he scores at the Energy Check Stadium at Firhill and will even deliver it to the ground so the big Irish striker can enjoy it straight after the game.
It’s not just Conor who will benefit from the new deal though as Pizza Express have also agreed a 25% discount for season ticket holders. The deal will apply to the restaurant chain’s Byres Road branch and will also see kids eat free with a paying adult season ticket holder.
On signing the new deal John Henderson, Restaurant Manager at Pizza Express’s Byres Road branch, said: “We are all really pleased about once again becoming a sponsor of Partick Thistle. It is particularly exciting given a number of our staff and regular customers are huge Jags fans – and I include myself in that!
“I was at the Ross County game at the end of the year where big Conor got a goal and everyone in the North Stand started singing “feed the fish and he will score”. After that it only seemed fair that we do our best to help out and keep the scoring run going! In fact, the next time Conor scores we’ll deliver pizza for the whole team – not just the man himself.”
Partick Thistle commercial manager, Ross Quaile, said: “Half time entertainment is something we, as a club, are really looking to push. Making the matchday experience as enjoyable as possible is key to getting more bums on seats. With that in mind it is great to have the guys at Pizza Express on board in this capacity. We have worked with Pizza Express before and it’s great to have them back involved.
“Hats off to John, the feed the fish link was genius and hopefully the big man will enjoy plenty of pizza between now and the end of the season.”
