A new flag hangs proudly in the North Stand, sporting the Thistle crest and rainbow stripes as Proud Jags launches the Club’s first LGBT+ fans and friends supporters’ group.
Stephen McDowall-Laing, who founded the group, said:
“This is a remarkable day in Jags’ history as we take an important step towards ending homophobia in the game we all love. I’m grateful to the Club and our fans for the support and encouragement so far – but this is just the start. LGBT+ fans want to come along and enjoy the game and feel safe. I hope that with the advent of this group, at Firhill they will know they can.”
David Beattie, Thistle’s Chairman added:
“Discrimination has no place at Firhill, every fan who comes to our games should feel welcome and included – football is for all. So when Stephen approached the Club to see if we supported the setting up of Proud Jags, there was only one answer – yes! We look forward to working with them in future and proving that the Jags family is open to everyone.”
