PTFC Open Day is a huge success – thank you!

The annual Partick Thistle Open Day at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill on Sunday was a big success and a whole host of thank yous are in order for those who made for another brilliant afternoon in Maryhill.

Top of the list must be entertainers extraordinaire Pitch Parade, courtesy of Jags fans and brothers Ross and Jack Brown, who provided completely free of charge interactive football games and challenges behind the city end goals which were a huge hit with fans from 12noon until 4pm.

We owe a huge thank you to Ross and Jack for giving up their Sunday and thank their dad Graeme for making the initial offer to the club. We are already talking to Pitch Parade about collaborating on future events with the club and encourage all Thistle fans to give them a follow on their social media channels.

In no particular order, massive votes of thanks for support at the Open Day go to:

  • The Partick Thistle women’s team for their meet and greet session with fans, plus captain Demi Falconer’s pitchside interview, before they signed off the day in style with a 1-0 win over Queen’s Park in the City of Glasgow Cup at Petershill Park just hours later

  • The Partick Thistle men’s team, staff and management for entertaining with the open training session before all players participated fully in what was a marathon signing session in the Jackie Husband Stand concourse. Every Thistle fan who queued patiently got all the pictures and autographs they asked for – we really appreciate the players giving their time so generously to make sure all fans went home happy
  • Within the above, we must acknowledge the ‘going the extra mile’ attitude of both Brian Graham – who did the Open Day and PTWFC matchday double – and Kris Doolan, who rounded off the day with an excellent Q&A and was last to leave with his family at the end of the event

  • The Alan Rough Lounge was packed with stalls for fans so a big shout out to all supporters who gave up their time to share information, and some goodies, about: Junior Jags, Season Tickets, Partick Thistle Charitable Trust, The Jags Foundation, the Disabled Supporters’ Association, Proud Jags, Her Game Too and Jags For Good
  • We also enjoyed the support of Greaves Sports and O’Neills, Pie Sports, busker Kyle O’Donnell, Scottish Rowing with free taster sessions in association with Firhill Youth Project and – because no Open Day is complete with them – our face painter and ice cream van!

  • Thank you to all the PTFC staff and volunteers who also gave up their Sundays to ensure the 2023 PTFC Open Day was one of our busiest and best ever – each and every one of you made a vital contribution and it’s appreciated

Final thank you, of course, must go to all the Thistle supporters, families and friends who attended Sunday’s Open Day and created a friendly and fun atmosphere throughout the afternoon. Thank you for your support and please keep an eye on club channels for news of more fan-engaged events throughout the season.
