In relation to ongoing speculation regarding a potential change to the shareholding at PTFC, the PTFC Trust would like to state unequivocally that no official or unofficial approach has been made to the PTFC Trust from any party regarding the shareholding held by the Trust.
The ownership of shares held by the PTFC Trust remains unchanged at 19.28%, which is exactly what was gifted to us in 2016.
The PTFC Trust exists for “the purpose of holding shares” that were gifted to supporters as part of the re-structuring of Club debt in the latter part of 2015. The beneficiaries of the Trust are the supporters and under the guardianship of the Trustees as laid out in the Trust Deed, the purpose is to; “hold shares in the Company to safeguard the long-term benefit and integrity of the association football club operated by the Company, while promoting its growth and financial wellbeing.”
We would also like to clarify that when the PTFC Trust was set up the Trust Deed initially allowed for 2 Supporters Trustees, this has evolved to 3 Supporters Trustees over the past 2 years. Additionally, there are 3 co-opted Supporters Trustees who have been appointed over this period, improving the contribution and influence of Supporters in engaging with the club. In total, there are currently 6 Supporters Trustees and 3 Club-appointed Trustees (2 Directors and the CEO). That will continue to evolve in favour of Supporter Trustees. All Trustees of the PTFC Trust will continue to act in accordance with the Trust Deed, and, at all times, in the best interests of the supporters and the Club.
The Supporter Trustees will continue to meet and correspond on a regular basis with the Club Board and we will endeavour to provide supporters with any updates as soon as possible.
If supporters wish to get in touch with the PTFC Trust, please do so via Facebook or email .
