Partick Thistle Women’s FC are pleased to announce the signing of Shona Cowan on a loan deal until the end of the season from Hearts.
The 19-year-old played 17 times for the Jambos last season as they earned a fourth placed finish in the SWPL and has been involved in their matchday squads regularly so far this term.
A product of the Hearts youth system, Cowan has a reputation as a reliable and versatile player who can slot in right across the back four and will be immediately available as the Jags take on Celtic this weekend.
PTWFC manager Brian Graham said:
“I’ve spoken plenty so far this season about building a really competitive squad and we’ve seen the benefit of that in our last couple of games. Adding Shona to our group only enhances that so it’s a deal we’re delighted to get done.
“She can play more than one position and has good experience of football at this level for someone who is still very young so I’m excited to see her join the strong group we’ve got here already.”
After signing, Shona Cowan said:
“I’m pleased to be joining the team here at Thistle. They did brilliantly last year and have made a good start in the league this season too so it’s a great opportunity for me.
“There is already a very strong squad in place so it won’t be easy to get into the team but I’m ready to work hard and hopefully contribute to more positive results for the club.”
